IT IS NOT ABOUT ME! Very few calls come in asking for me by name and rightly so. I am obviously honored when a call comes in for me, because it is almost always a referral from someone I have worked with. Buying or selling real estate is about YOU. There is rarely anything more emotional, serious and yes fun if done right than being involved in a real estate transaction. You should feel very very comfortable with your real estate agent. In fact, you should feel your agent puts your interests first. If you don't feel totally comfortable.... change agents quick. The decisions you make about real estate are too important to be troubled by the service you are receiving. The agent you choose should have a thorough knowledge of mountain real estate and should provide you with helpful and detailed information on each and every season in the mountains. You should be especially knowledge about Winter in the mountains. Ask your real estate agent a lot of questions The areas considered to be in Shaver Lake are: the East and West villages; Rock Haven; The Point, which is the closest thing we have to water front property; Musick Falls; Musick Ridge; Bretz Mill and Sierra Pines Condos; Silver Tip; Ockenden; Dogwood Mountain; Littlefield & Little Ridge; Wild Flower Village; Granite Ridge; Timber Ridge; Bretz Village; Quartz Mountain; Sierra Cedars; and Ridgetop. Cressman road Peterson road and Shaver Falls are all near the top of the four lane. If you head up the hill from Shaver Lake you will find Big Creek and Camp Sierra about six miles from the end of the lake. If you continue up Hwy 168 you will come to the community of Tamarack located near Sierra Summit. Just past Tamarack on your left is Grouse Creek which is a small community in the middle of the forest. Huntington Lake is approximately 3 miles past Sierra Summit. Most of the Forest Service cabins are at Huntington Lake. Your agent should have a very sound knowledge of Forest Service cabins. The major plusses for considering a Forest Service cabin are price and location. The minuses to consider are the renewable permit and limited winter access. Your agent should feel comfortable guiding you through the process of working with the Forest Service. Only a few hardy souls venture up to Florence or Edison lake in winter. It is definitely worth the drive in summer to see these two majestic lakes. The John Muir trail can also be reached from Florence Lake. Shaver Lake and our other mountain communities come to life for each season in very different ways. I still marvel at those hardy folks out on Shaver Lake and even a few on the shores at Huntington fishing away sometimes dodging snow flakes and very cold weather. Sierra Summit is now taking water out of Huntington Lake to make snow which means there will be a lot more snow on the slopes. Prior to taking water from Huntington Lake the only water available was from a holding pond. I am told by those who fish that there are plenty available if you can weather the elements. Shaver Lake is probably as low as I have seen it, but it is still beautiful to look at and when there is a good snow fall there is room for sleding and tubing near the parking area right off Hwy 168. The parking area is just before the Point community. When the sun is shining it is very comfortable in the middle of the winter, but when the clouds come in the temperatures can plummet so always dress warm and have extra clothing with you. Add wind to clouds and you have the formula for a very cold time indeed. Sun glasses are a must Please visit my web site at: www.homesofshaverlake.com and click on the weather or ski report tabs to stay up on conditions. You can also search the mountain MLS for real estate at your convenience. You are not required to fill out a contact form to search the MLS or view weather and ski conditions. It is my goal to make this site about you. Warm Regards, Mike Sapp
